An exhibition showcasing portraits that African Americans in Central Virginia commissioned from the Holsinger Studio during the first decades of the twentieth century. The portraits expressed the individuality of the women and men who commissioned them and silently yet powerfully asserted the Black community’s claims to rights and equality.

Ruobing Su

As the UX/UI Designer on UVA Library's Communication team, Ruobing is responsible for designing and coding the UVA library projects to completion based on findings of user research and user testings, as well as digital and print design projects. By applying Human-Centered Design principles, visual design principles and universal design theories to her everyday work, Ruobing seeks to provide an interactive, engaging and accessible digital library experience for all the library audience. 

Hirak Ray

I seek to improve user experiences while promoting equitable, inclusive and accessible interfaces. I collaborate with design, web implementation, and communications.

Sarah P Wells

Sarah is the Director of the Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities (IATH), which develops and collaborates on faculty-driven digital humanities projects. Her background includes technical writing, digital and analog publishing, project management, grant development and support for digital scholars both in and outside of UVA, and workshops, meetings, and events with national and international collaborations.

Cory Alexander Capron

Performs a variety of acquisitions, cataloging, and related duties shared by Resource Acquisition & Description and Metadata & Discovery Services in order to give these two teams flexibility as the Library’s collection development strategy and priorities continue to evolve.
