UVA Library is now offering free access to online editions of the New Yorker and Harper’s Magazine, giving UVA community members a gateway to two of the most esteemed publications in the United States. Both magazines are known for their long-form journalism, literary fiction, criticism, and cartoons. Harper’s Magazine has won 22 National Magazine Awards and the New Yorker has won 59, as well as 11 Pulitzer Prizes.

Expanded access to full-color publications
While the Library has always had access to current articles in these magazines through a news aggregation database, as of this fall it now offers the “official,” full, online publications. “Through Opinion Archives [a database of American magazines], we now have access to a full-color replica of the print version of the New Yorker,” said Leigh Rockey, Librarian for Collections Management & Video Resources. “For Harper’s Magazine, we have the full current issue with color and illustrations, also through Opinion Archives, but the experience is not an exact replica of the print.”

Access the New Yorker and Harper’s Magazine through Opinion Archives in the A-Z Databases listing on the Library’s website.
