Job summary

Michael supports researchers with data management, metadata production, data organization, and data preservation. He supports researchers in the development and implementation of data management plans, and offers guidance on technical data management issues, including acquisition, transfer, and storage of data. In addition, he supports data discovery and data literacy instruction. He also serves the needs of researchers to manage, document, share, and preserve the products of their research, complying with sponsor mandates and changing norms for making data assets available and improving research reproducibility.

Professional profile

Before coming to UVA Library, Michael worked in the Thomer lab at the University of Michigan School of Information and in the Shapiro Design Lab at the University of Michigan Library. In addition to research data management and curation, he is interested in the role of libraries in scientific research, ways to improve technical skills pedagogy, and semantics-based knowledge organization.
