Nursing student cap, circa 1970

By akl3b |

In the first half of the 20th Century, “capping” was an important milestone for a nursing student. Each student received a cap after completing the preclinical portion of the nursing program, and colored bands were added upon reaching one’s senior year. In the 1970s, the cap ceased to be an official part of the nursing student uniform.
