Critical and Creative AI: For the (Digital) Humanities Lecture Series 2026-27
The DHC has partnered with the Institute of Arts and Humanities to bring five leading scholar-practitioners to UVA this year. The workshops and lectures will create a space for critical and creative conversations around humanities AI, as well as opportunities for workshopping and making.
The program kicks off September 2nd, Patricia Murrieta-Flores (TEC Monterrey) presents a workshop on machine learning in Latin American and Indigenous archives that offers practical frameworks and principles for more just, situated, and community-anchored technologies.
Digital Repatriation in the Darien: Announcing our new DAC-DHC Team Fellows
Prof. Rolando Vargas and graduate student Slenka Botello from Art History were selected for the Data Analytics Center and DH Center fellowship program to support their work with digital repatriation of artifacts created by Indigenous Guna communities in the Darien Gap.
Their work kicked off in June 2026 and will last for one year. Stay tuned for news and updates!
