Josh Thorud designs and teaches audio/video and digital art instructional sessions, including software, equipment, media literacy, and digital storytelling, as well as consults with instructors about course design for media. He also creates instructional materials such as video tutorials and step-by-step handouts on technical and content-related topics. Josh also occasionally teaches courses as instructor of record.

Professional profile

Josh Thorud is also a video editor, screenwriter, and artist. He received his MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Photography & Film. He was previously a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University and Coe College. His work has been showcased internationally, spanning the US, UK, Mexico, Germany, Columbia, Russia, Italy, and Serbia. In 2024, he edited works that won a Special Award at the Arte Laguna Prize in Venice which included an exhibition there and a screening at the KINDL Centre for Contemporary Art in Berlin. He has shown at BFI London Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, Slamdance, New Orleans Film Festival, Oaxaca Film Festival, Flickers' RI International, Filmmatic, Austin Revolution, Austin After Dark, Minneapolis Underground, Chicago Underground, Athens International, and many more.
