Our librarians recommend books created by, for, and about Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

“Collective Bargaining for the Common Good” explores 22 years of labor advocacy at UVA and in the Charlottesville area, ongoing through this day. Under the guidance of instructor Piers Gelly, the exhibition is the first to be curated by first-year UVA students. Visit the exhibition in Harrison/Small through June 20, 2024.

This April, the UVA Library honors National Arab American Heritage Month. Leigh Rockey, Librarian for Collections Management and Video Resources, recommends the following titles.

Artist Amy Chan’s vinyl scrolls were inspired by a group of undergraduate students who asked for more contemporary Asian or Asian American art in Library spaces.

In a competitive application process, 25 archivists have been selected as participants in the 2024 Archives Leadership Institute, hosted at UVA.

All are welcome to join on April 4 for a grand opening celebration of The Edgar Shannon Library! An open house will take place from noon to 4 p.m., and remarks and a reception will follow. Activities will include interactive demonstrations, special displays of Library collections, virtual reality, and more!
